Where it can lead

From guest in the back row to speaking on a stage

Nobody expects you to have a plan. But it helps to know what the road looks like, because plenty of members have walked further along it than they ever intended.

01

Come and watch

Visit two or three meetings as a guest. Free, no sign-up, no speaking required. Bring a friend if that makes it easier.

02

Say your first words

Most people start with a Table Topic, then an Ice Breaker speech: four minutes about you. That is the whole brief.

03

Pick a Pathway

Toastmasters Pathways is your own curriculum — a series of speech projects in the direction you care about, with feedback after every single one.

04

Run part of the evening

Time-keeper, evaluator, Table Topics master, Toastmaster of the day. Small leadership steps that transfer straight into your work.

05

Go further than you planned

Contests at club, area and district level, conferences in other cities, mentoring newcomers, or sitting on the board. Several of us are here because someone nudged us to try.

Rooted in Gothenburg

A local club with global standards

We are proud to call Gothenburg home. From the harbor and the bridges to the trams running through the city, our club reflects the open, curious spirit of Sweden's west coast.

Connected community

Meet professionals from across the city and region.

Easy to reach

Conveniently located near tram lines and public transport.

International mindset

Meetings in English, open to all cultures and backgrounds.

Local warmth

Small-club feel with the full Toastmasters program.

What to expect at a meeting

Every meeting is a safe, supportive space to practice, learn, and connect with fellow speakers in Gothenburg.

Prepared speeches

Members deliver structured speeches and receive constructive feedback to improve delivery and content.

Impromptu speaking

Table Topics sharpen your ability to think and speak clearly on the spot — in a fun, low-pressure format.

Leadership roles

Run the meeting as Toastmaster, evaluate speakers, or take on a support role to grow your leadership skills.

Supportive community

We celebrate progress together. Whether you are shy or seasoned, you will feel welcome here.

A proper break

Coffee, cake and conversation. The break is where you get to know the club — many members will tell you it is where the real connections happen.

Not every other Monday is the same

Alongside our regular meetings we run themed evenings, workshops, invited guest speakers, joint sessions with other Gothenburg organisations, and the occasional meeting somewhere new downtown — usually followed by food or a drink. Every evening has a proper break: the part where the conversations really start. If a normal meeting feels like a big first step, these are an easier door in.

Meet the people

These are the humans you will meet. Engineers, founders, teachers, students and newcomers to Sweden — plus a suspicious amount of interest in coffee, sourdough and long walks. Our board is elected by the members every year, and these are the people who will greet you at your first meeting.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

The honest answers to what people actually worry about before a first visit.

Not really — there is no syllabus, no teacher and no grades. You learn by doing: giving speeches, taking meeting roles and getting friendly feedback from members. Everyone in the room is practising too, so it feels more like a club than a course.

Still wondering about something? We’ll get back to you.

Come and see for yourself

Visiting costs nothing and commits you to nothing. Tell us a little about yourself and we will reply with the next date and the name of the person who will meet you at the door.
